Should be finished with these after the weekend...

Forum member WARJUNIOR requested some FAP Sabre skins and it turned out to be a fun project! Thanks to WARJUNIOR for his help with the Portuguese stencils and personal photos :)

North American F-86F-35NA serial 52-5242, FAP serial 5316, of Esquadra 51 "Falcões" (Falcons), based at BA5 (Base Aérea Nº 5), Monte Real, Portugal.

Esq. 51 flew the Sabre well into the 1980s, the aircraft were initially finished in natural metal before being painted in light grey, with only the tail pipe and gun blast panes remaining in natural metal.

'316 shows later marking scheme , which included NATO servicing symbols.

Both liveries will include authentic pilot figures with appropriate patches.

I think I've finally got the spec files where I want them for natural metal effect, pics don't really show it, you have to see the aircraft moving to really catch the reflectivity/shine. :)

Made some small changes to the cockpit, FAP Sabre cockpits were actually very close to the default DCS Sabre, probably because they were the same model/block. Throttles and flap lever handles were grey, changed some push button colours, that's about it.

loved it........here those birds are now exposed at the entrance of airbases.....

in 1972 2 sabre birds were engaged actually in an ufo pursuit.....it happened near the border with spain

I also learned some of Portugal's Sabres saw real combat in Africa. Ground attack and close air support.

yap....guinea..... were made some bombing runs, and it happened a crash with one fully loaded with napalms, it was all a big coverup, because that time the birds belong to NATO, and we took them "borrowed", because of the UN embargo on us......so the ops were only at night, they never flew to angola or mozambique, we never had the logistics to such op......

:thumbup::thumbup: thanks a lot bro....

this work is beautiful....they are so shiny, and very realistically represented.....im imaging as soon i buy the sabre, a mission in the 60s with us fighting in guinea...... this war had a big impact in portuguese society and lives forever in us........we portuguese people were not made for war and killing, it was a useless bloodbath.......thanks jocko...........:lol:
