sobe
I am going to download a current version of FC2 until FC3 is issued. I cannot find my lockon disk so I intend to download it from Amazon for 9 dollars. I have my old serial number for FC2 so the download should be free for me. However, I don't want any star force on my computer and I am a little confused on the various threads on star force, so Does the original Lockon use Star-force? Does FC2 use Star force? A yes to either question will result on my abandoning my plans. EtherealN
Realize that "StarForce" is a brand name, not a specific DRM solution. There are many solutions using that name. (Compare with "Windows" - there's many versions of it and they differ a lot.) Original LOMAC did not have Starforce. I have no idea what may or may not be on contemporary DD versions of it though, that's in the hands of the publisher and you'd have to ask them. The download page should inform you of the situation. FC2 has StarForce ProActive, the latter part of the name meaning that there is no driver, and activation per machine (not per install). It has less authority on your computer than your web browser. joey45
And it does not install on your machine. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
