Just personal preference but I don't like the new water.

Anyone who's ever seen water from the air knows it doesn't move around like an aquarium being carried by a drunk.

It can be toned down and save some FPS.

95 flights a year here.... definitely looks a tad odd.

yeah I agree too. It looks like you are 10 feet above the water at any altitude. Doesn't feel right.

Water colour never changed. Just the texture/pattern used for the waves.

So can we get back the "Improved water effects" as Wags wrote before in the 1.2.1 updates list ?

 

or any chance to get newer side-patches (files) with the reverted improved water effects ? :thumbup:

 

because i thnk ED changed the DLLs too - (not only textures, FXOs, FXs)

Yes it's good, no doubt :)

 

I don't know how much the waterdetails and the stuff around it affected the performance. But when my 2 x GTX 580's where running @ 100% and my frames where almost 1/2 of what I normally have, the price is to high for me.

 

I'd rather run the sim @ stable 60 FPS w/vsync and high details, high view distance, then choppy 30 FPS and nice looking watereffects.

I want it back aswell or at least an option to turn it on. since i have a good pc and my fps was fine with it why not.
It's a problem with optimization so it will be back. They didn't spend all that time making the new shaders just to drop it I'm sure.

On a similar but differt subject....please bring back the tall nice smoke from 1.2.0

Smoke now in 1.2.1 looks again like the shitty old smoke from Lock on (since 2003)

water looked good but again the wave animation was to fast, and also fps performance hog.

ed is going to have to code in more cpu cores for new effects amfraid.

 

or get the new edge terrain engine on a seperate core, this in turn will free up resources.

i doubt the new water shaders were the problem, but more the driving engine behind it..

 

this terrain engine is old old old... which is where edge comes in.

Ok thats weird cause i does for me

 

I did only copy the smoke files, I did not copy the explosion files as I did not want to loose the new explosion effects from 1.2.1.
