Needs some tweaking, looks a bit too much right now, but, yes, this is something we need!

Ok Folks...Thank You for comments and ideas but please don't forget i am not finished it yet.

Yep, needs tweaking more a lot, especially adjusting textures which are essential things for those vapour clouds.

I try to make/tune better textures (alpha channels and contrast are most important) while i also adjust 3D model sizes/form (fuselage, wings, wingtips) to make more aircraft specific condensations for more ACs such as Su-25s, Su-27s, MiG-29s, F-18s, F-16s etc.

...and i am working on texture animations and smokes also which will visualize the vapour flow

...and at the and these will need serious lua works to show correct vapor intensity by speed and angle of attack

(meanwhile humidity/moisture is also one of the most affecting element IRL, 4xmpl: no strong condensations in Nevada but there are the strongest in Florida/Virginia, Wales/Scotland or overwater)... not mentioning transonic condensations: suberbugs can create spectacular effects IRL

looks a bit too much

Too much ? ? ? Those were just some weak effects, here are some really strong

How does it look from inside the cockpit?

I need couple more days and i will show you

need a moving picture to see how good that is. but for a still, yeah thats awesome. always wanted that in dcs, i believe Flanker had it originally, guess it still works lol.

Fuselage/airframe condensation unfortunately not works since Flanker2 (however still in DCSW DLLs ) moreover nor wingtip trails since 1.2.1 but i hope i will able to bring them back

Just wondering, would it be possible to see these trails in action on a video? screenshots can only show one part of the work

If i finished texture tweaking and texture animations i will make a short video but you know im not a video guy: they are Glowing Amraam and SlamRaam

You know: I'm the screenshot guy :D

so...here are some earlier/previous shots with less mist on wings (unfortunately contrast is too low: vapour looks plastic a bit on the Warthog)

more white, more contrast on textures makes vapour bit more real but less transparency: hard to find nice balance

Does the vapor escalate the harder the turn in the mod?

Any fps impact?

Vapour escalate:

Not yet however that's the future/final plan: different effect intensity by different AOA/Gs level: more intense/larger animated textures and larger/different 3D shapes for textures

FPS:

With 3D smoke/vapour puff (calculated): Yes, slightly

With animated textures: Nil

Sheesh, this keeps getting better and better.

I have to force myself to sleep otherwise I just keep wanting more and more.

Great looking Vapor! :notworthy:

Thanks...and some other screenshots from yesterday

A little criticism :music_whistling: - I know it´s WIP, but judging from some images I compared it with today, the outer edges of the A-10 vapor are maybe a little too well defined and could be more blurry.

On photos of the F-15, like it already is on the A-10, the vapor seems a little more homogenous, without clearly discernable details like those dark spots (this apllies mostly if the texture in the mod is static and not dynamic/animated).

Anyway, great work. Don´t misunderstand me - it´s absolutely stunning already.

i agree, A-10 vapor not perfect, but if we watch those condensations we will find many different photos

i think you will find Strike Eagle photos most but camera shutter speed specify how the condensation will be on the image

https://www.google.hu/search?q=shutter+speed+photography&rlz=1C2GGGE_huHU446HU455&biw=1904&bih=830&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=EMybUeuLFYbtsga7woHwCA&sqi=2&ved=0CD0QsAQ

if the photographer properly follow the aircraft that allow him longer shutter speed which will shown as a homogenous condensation - aircraft is sharp but vapour is foggy and washed out

but if photographer (can) use very quick or high shutter speed then you will (can) see sharp contrasted vapour and darker spots - but it's very depends of flight condition (posture)

and you can find some shadows on the fuselage too (shadows of vapor clouds)

i guess it is very hard to show/reproduce on textures coz those vapor not an exact thing IRL too

some example

You make a goodd point, but I still think that the vapor would not appear to have such detail to the naked eye (which has no shutter settings, just a fixed frame rate) ;)

IDEA: different vapor textures for paused sim

You make a goodd point, but I still think that the vapor would not appear to have such detail to the naked eye (which has no shutter settings, just a fixed frame rate) ;)

yes, but then first he needs to decide which version to make:

1. camera photo/video equivalent visualization ? (homogeneous/washed out)

or

2. natural: how human eyes able to perceive (like on airshow) with contrasting "clearly" discernible details

and what's going to happen with paused game ?

i think almost perfect solution should be washed out vapor, but with paused game vapor should change immediately to a sharp, contrasting, "clearly" discernible details version

i know it's more work however i wrote earlier those vapor clouds are very depends of flight condition (posture) of aircraft IRL (we will never see same vapor clouds IRL)

hehe, i agree :)

he wrote many times he is always working one dozens of projects

probably not same time but a day on one, another day on other(s)

AFAIK he wrote somewhere he will be bored quickly by one project only :D

however i wrote him not too long ago, he should release old airport lights corrections first ;)

...Maybe ;)

I wish HungaroJET would RELEASE his updates :D

(P.S: he should consider a 'public beta' version hint hint)

Sign me up too ...i am on it :D

AFAIK he wrote somewhere he will be bored quickly by one project only :D

That's true :P

Nothing is easy to change/make better in DCSW but sometimes boring :megalol: (usually i change to other project when i stuck with something, but processes of other/newer projects often bring solutions for stuck projects also)

4xmpl: this morning I woke up with an idea in my head: to make afterburner flames more real looking.

After a quick brainstorm :) i decided i want to see much more bright AB at night

(currently daytime AB flames brighter than flames in night time which is nonsense/preposterous)

So, right now i am "playing" with forsage: materials, single and dual sided textures, chrome effect, shape correction/modification of original model, using other models for flame etc.

All can bring different visual results (images later)

Future idea: animated flame (shaky/quaky/wavy animations)

...yeah, after it i will jump back to "old airport lights corrections"...maybe tomorrow/next week ;)

  • 4 weeks later...

Sorry Folks, I had some major problem. I had a maxisuck with my Microsuck Windows 7.

It collapsed.

Probably the windows installer caused the problem: I have no internet connection (LAN control), lots of program not work/run such as Skype, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, DCS World, etc. (regardless of internet)

I am not able to install/unistall anything. I double checked drives with different Anti-Virus programs: but found nothing.

Interesting but some portable, standalone and some "deeply" installed program still works such us ModelViewers, video/media players and 3DS Max.

I think a deficient update/install (of AV) caused these. I tried to fix Windows (for 10 days) but finally I wasn't able to recover it.

Nothing changed since first/previous Windows came out (3.1/95/98/ME/XP), windows unable to repair itself :(

A specialist of Microsoft wrote to me: I have to reinstall Windows.

Wonderful, thanks a lot Microsuck !

I am already reinstalled W7 (this is how i wrote to forum now) but onto another HDD (I'm still hoping i will able to repair the collapsed-old W7 somehow/sometime), so looks i should reinstall all the other programs also, everything what is a nightmare but fortunately seems I have no data loss (of DCSW and mod files)

So, if you have any idea how to repair/recover my W7-64 windows installer please let me know.

Thank You

something 'crazy' I have done some time ago to rescue a 'corrupt' WIN7 of a friend some moons ago:

Installed win 7 on a clean system and transferd his data while the installation process via a daisy chained USB - so he got his data rescued - than wiped his old system and did the same again. - well... make your own thoughts if this route fits for you.
