Su33 Skins 2048 x 2048 in CDDS Format

For Lock On to install these skins do the following

Copy and paste the "Su-33-IcePak-01.cdds" into "..\Lock On\Bazar\World"

Open your graphics.cfg Folder in "..Lock On\Config"

Scroll down about halfway to " common = ".\\Bazar\\Effects\\EffectTexturesTGA.cdds";"

Insert on the next line " common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\Su-33-IcePak-01.cdds"; (or whichever one you download)

That's It!

all skins updated with Authentic engine cowling. example image below

High Resolution Numbers Install Procedure

1. Download TikaTika Patch for Modman "CID_fc.rar". Unzip and after backing up original text file place in "..ModMan\required"

2. Open your graphics.cfg Folder in "..Lock On\Config"

Insert on the next line "common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\Nomera-UpgradeTGA.cdds";

3. Download "Nomera-UpgradeTGA.rar" by Deadman. Unzip and place into "..Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Bazar\World"

4. Download Deadman's "Nomera-Upgrade.zip" and install using Modman 5.0

I noticed you put the skins in cdds format? How much fps would that save compare to throwing it into the standard temptexture folder?

A lot. I have a high end pc and if i have 4 su33 (8 x 12 mb loaded indo video RAM) skins in temptextures i get tearing of the terrain. As cdds files they compress to less than 2mb each. So as CDDS files you can load all 6 with no problems.

I confirm that! I don't know why not to export them to CDDS. Nvidia filter can be downloaded from their site with no problem at all.

Can someone explain in "dummy talk" how to convert skins to .cdds? I've been having some graphical issues myself since I started skinning and having alot of high-res skins ingame. I never even considered it was the skins until this thread...lol like I said "dummy talk"...

Colt do you have access to Team speak I am about to go out but we could set up a time and I can walk you throught it sorry I haven't writen anyt thing up . But with the Team speak you can tell me what you don't understand and it will go quicker

No teamspeak. I'm not in any rush either. If either you or ICE could find the time oneday to write something up that'd be great. I'll just run my skins at 1024x until then (3mb instead of 12). I'm just glad I found out what was causing the tearing I was having in missions that used alot of my skins.

its eading the old befor the new

I dont have other new CDDS files for Su33 that could conflict. Realy strange..

How are you checking it have you used the CDDS browser to check the new Su-33 files to see whats in them? what colour selection are you looking under in the pay load window? other than that i would say to use his original bitmaps and make your own CDDS file try that

I just did a test on all three of Ices CDDS pack I down loaded installed and opened no problem here are the files so I haave no idea why its not working for you sorry

maybe you have skins in the temptextures folder overriding ?

The CDDS packs Ice and I made change the file size from 512x512 to 2048x2048 there are still only 6 skins that are for the SU-33 the CDDS packs 1,2,and 3 replace the skins that are the first three picks in the color scheme list in the payload window..

I have to accept a humiliating failure of "my onboard computers", all of them :cry: . Sorry guys for wasting your time.

Yes I had some other mods that were overriding those 3 new skins in the new CDDS files, one of them was one of ICE skin. Also I was wrongly assumed that the skins are added to the ones already in the game, lead by the fact that most SU-25T skins in CDDS packs are doing so.

At least the mistery is solved. Thanks for your help. :thumbup:
